Angels in America
Parts 1 & 2
by Tony Kushner

In May 1993, Angles in America Part 1 - Millennium Approaches opened on Broadway.  The theatre world was never the same.  Winner of multiple Tony Awards. The Drama Desk Award, and the Pulitzer Prize the play cemented its reputation as one of the greatest works of theatrical art of the 20th century.

Now, in time for its 20th anniversary, Bard Fest in partnership with Arts for Lawrence  will present a landmark event.   In May and June 2023 we will present the entire epic play cycle for the first time in Indianapolis in over a decade.

"Brilliant, maddening, and necessary",  writes The New Yorker,  the play follows the lives of its characters through the teeth of the AIDS epidemic. Its themes still resonate today with its frank discussion of the trials an oppressed community, politics, epidemics, and our basic humanity.    The play is an actor's dream filled with some of the most soaring prose ever written.
